Ubernatural Finished.....

Ubernatural is a fo!

I had to make a few changes such as ripping the sleeves and knitting them in the round because trying to seam them was a pain and looked so messy. I also ripped the bottom and very loosely bound off all the stitches so that it wouldn't ride up when worn. I really like the pattern it but I think if I were to knit this again I would knit the neckline different because it seams to slide down a little. I think I might to figure out a quick fix for that or maybe steam it a lot. The yarn is left over fisherman's wool from the Lucy bag. I used two strands together to get a thicker result. So knitting from two skeins and still I have half of each skein left. I also knit size large but the finished measurements are for small. Another example of my gauge dilemma. This was also the first top down sweater I have ever done and I think I am going to be doing a lot more patterns like this. I liked being able to try the garment on and decide whether to rip it or continue instead of knitting both sides and then realizing that it would only fit the Peanut. The Peanut's little tank is coming along very slowly. I still have to sew one little shoulder strap on and block it. That's being put on hold for now. I did cast on Grumperina's Picovoli which I have been eager to start. So far I had to alter the pattern because I am using a different needle size and of course the misguided gauge results are always a factor.

This is the second cast on try and so far it fits. I already made two mistakes at the armholes and think I am going to just fix those with some sewing. They won't be noticeable...I hope. The picture really looks like this is a sweater for Peanut but really it is for me the adult. I am going to be taking this with us tomorrow on our trip. It has come to that time during the summer where we take a six hour drive to see my family in Upstate NY. I am very excited about the visit but the drive is a worry. A six hour drive alone with a toddler who hates her car seat is no joy. But luckily I have such nice neighbors who have lent me there portable DVD player so Peanut can watch movies to keep her mind off the car seat. I would like to avoid the whining as much as possible because it causes mommy brain damage and I really need to be able to focus on the road. We also are going camping for a week. I know sounds crazy to take a toddler camping but I started at age three so I am starting her a little early....but it will be fun. So we drive up...go camping...drive to visit family...and then come back on July 10. So who knows if I will have access to a computer so I may not be blogging for a while. But I will post as many photos of our experiences on our trip when we get back. And of course there will be knitting content since I am also going to be going to Spirit Work while there and I have to go anyways because I got a very nice gift certificate for my birthday a few weeks ago. How nice is that seeing as I really need to budget myself this summer. Now I must return to packing....
